Sailing Instructor Newport, Rhode Island Summary This position is located at the Naval Station Newport, RI Marina, Recreation Division, Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Department, Naval Station, Newport, RI. The primary function of the position is to instruct sailing and kayaking Duties 50% 1. The incumbent will teach the provided program sail theory outline in the classroom and techniques of proper rigging and sailing on the water. Also, teach the proper techniques and basic fundamentals of kayaking. Perform maintenance on sailboat and kayak fleet. 30% 2. May issue equipment and boats to customers. Recording of class rosters logging in and out of boats, and ensure damage to boats or missing parts is tracked and accounted for. Incumbent will contact customers interested in programs, promote the classes and follow up where need be to ensure customer satisfaction. 10% 3. Incumbent will perform ail cleaning and upkeep of boats prior to class usage. AH boat Inspections are done when rental reservations are made on such equipment. 5% 4.
