Biological Science Aid & Technician (Seasonal) Fresno, California Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Biological Science Aid & Technician (Seasonal). Make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment. Duty Location: Fresno, California Duties Duties: -Assists in the collection, entering (hard copy and electronic), and performing Quality Control on data to ensure compliance with environmental statutes. -Conducts in-river sampling, via walking, wading, boating, or kayaking, that requires handling and identification of common fish species. -Assists with adult salmon monitoring and trap and haul operations. -Assists with adult salmon redd and carcass surveys juvenile salmon rotary screw trap monitoring. -Conducts in-river water quality monitoring and assists with identifying fish species. Additional information: In response to the state of the San Joaquin River (SJR) fishery, a coalition of environmental groups, led by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), filed a lawsuit challenging the renewal of long-term water service contracts between the United States and the Central Valley Project Friant Division Long-Term Contractors. The resulting settlement (NRDC, et.al. v. Rodgers, et al. 2006) requires, among other things, reintroduction of Chinook Salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) into the upper SJR (i.e., Restoration Area (RA); upstream of the Merced River confluence), and includes a long-term goal to reestablish naturally reproducing and self-sustaining populations of these fish.
