Engineer I - Sr, Fuels & Core Design (Nuc) City Jackson Posting End Date: Work Place Flexibility: Legal Entity: Job Summary/Purpose Core Design Engineers are responsible for engineering activities to provide safe, reliable, and predictable core designs, while improving the efficiency and robustness of our designs. In doing so, the position will support Entergy's nuclear fleet in our mission to provide clean, reliable, and sustainable nuclear energy safely and efficiently. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage core reload projects including activities associated with the design and licensing of the core, fabrication and transportation of fuel, and contract management. Collaborate on fuel and core designs, including strategic fuel design evaluations, to lead the industry in advanced technologies for improved fuel performance, reliability, and cost effectiveness. Maintain detailed core models to support site reactor engineering and other plant functions in safely and reliably operating our nuclear fleet. Provide reactor physics and fuel criticality expertise to support the analytical and design bases on which each plant was licensed and provide technical oversight of contracted analyses. Employ robust designs to ensure that fuel is operated in a safe and reliable manner in accordance with plant design and licensing basis, within design limits, and with sustainable, failure-free performance.
