Duties NON-APPROPRIATED FUND POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Sports Specialist BUSINESS TITLE: Sports Specialist (Assistant Swim Coach) FLSA: Non-exempt JOB SERIES: 0030 PAY LEVEL: NF-03 SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Assists with the planning, supervision, administration, direction, execution, and promotion of a year-round, multilevel competitive swimming program for a variety of ages. Helps plan, supervise, administer, direct, execute, and promote Aquatics and Swim Team hosted events. Oversees workouts, team members and individual practice groups. Assists in staff training. Prioritizes assigned tasks. Under the direction of the supervisor, oversees seasonal personnel. Resolves complaints and initiates disciplinary actions. Protects swimmers from hazardous conditions by safeguarding the lives of patrons by ensuring that safety and pool rules and regulations are enforced. Supervises swimmers for safety and crowd control. Performs rescue work, promptly renders emergency first aid, and calls for medical assistance as necessary. Performs water and land rescues equal to the standard of training when a water emergency is taking place (e.g. drowning, medical or trauma in the water).
