Engineering Equipment Operator Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona Summary This Engineering Equipment Operator position is located at Petrified Forest National Park in Petrified Forest, AZ. Please visit find a park for additional park information. This is a Permanent, Full-time, Competitive appointment. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 06/25/2026 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration. Duties Incumbent will operate a variety of engineering equipment such as graders, dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, excavators, forklifts, tractors, heavy trucks and trailers. Incumbent will operate front end loaders to load trucks, stockpile material, clean ditches and clean up storm damage. Equipment is operated at times in difficult terrain, congested roads and in extreme weather conditions. Operators are responsible for pre-start inspections of equipment as well as minor repairs and preventative maintenance. Operators are responsible for following safety rules and regulations. Incumbent will manually dig ditches and holes in support of heavy engineering and construction activities. Incumbent performs flagging duties to control traffic for road maintenance activities. Requirements U.S. Citizenship required. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
