About this role

Paralegal Specialist - Natural Resources Section Washington, District of Columbia Summary This position is located in the Natural Resources Section, Environment and Natural Resources Division. The Natural Resources Section handles litigation arising under more than 80 natural resource, environmental, and cultural resource statutes, various treaties and international agreements, interstate compacts, and congressional referrals. The incumbent will provide paralegal support to the Section's attorneys. One or more positions may be filled from this announcement. Duties This vacancy is also being announced concurrently with Ann# ENRD-26-041-MP for applicants who have Federal status. Please review that announcement to determine if you are eligible to apply. Note: Applicants must apply separately for each announcement. As a Paralegal Specialist, typical work assignments may include the following: Performing case management including preparing and organizing exhibits; recording and reviewing files; obtaining documents for attorneys. Performing research in various databases including Westlaw, PACER and Lexis; performing cite checks pursuant to The Bluebook, compiling legislative histories; proofreading and editing legal briefs and memoranda prior to filing in court; and ensuring conformance of documents to applicable court rules. Performing document management, including creating and maintaining litigation databases. Organizing and writing synopses of factual materials; summarizing depositions; preparing, organizing, and indexing administrative records; and preparing non-legal memoranda. Providing assistance at hearings and/or trials, for example, preparing exhibits, coordinating trial logistics, and running exhibit presentation software. Education All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized
