Education Program Specialist New London County, Connecticut Summary This vacancy is for a GS-1720-12, Education Program Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OPERATING LOCATION-MUSEUM DIVISION -CG-09241 -NEW LONDON CT in NEW LONDON, Connecticut. Duties You will serve as an Education Program Specialist and be responsible for managing the National Coast Guard Museum (NCGM) education program, which includes the NCGM's interpretive programming Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) - based educational programming, establishing multiple formal museum-based education programs, and conducting education outreach events. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Developing and implementing museum-wide programming working with contractor, museum curator, director of exhibits and programs to interpret and present the history and skills of the USCG in an interactive and immersive fashion to multiple audiences. Creating museum exhibits and presentations for educational purposes for audiences related to the USCG's history and missions. Developing STEM based programming for early education audiences, K-8, High School, and/or adult development participants. Coordinating the overall development, management, control, and execution of the STEM educational programs, developing plans of action to ensure established goals are met consistently and in a timely manner. Establishing and fostering external relationships with local, regional, national, and international institutions, historical and cultural organizations. Establishing and implementing a field trip program for grades 4 to 12, classroom- based learning, and museum presentations focusing on USCG's values, history, and culture.
