Payroll Specialist Indianapolis, IN, USA Payroll Specialist Indianapolis, IN, USA Posted Thursday, May 28, 2026 PURPOSE: The Payroll Specialist processes both bi-weekly hourly payrolls and semi-monthly salaried payrolls for approximately 1,600 employees. Payrolls are multi-state and multi-union. KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for full ownership of the payroll process and independently processes the bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll through Ceridian Reconcile voluntary payroll deductions and submit payment requests Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports Process garnishments which include child support and tax levies Process special wage/salary payouts and adjustments via off-cycles Respond to employee inquiries about payroll and payroll related matters Provide excellent customer service to employees and HR Team members Compile payroll data such vacation time, insurance and 401(k) deductions Maintain paid time off and vacation accrual file quarterly Recommend and participate in the development of new procedures and policies related the operation of payroll Issue W-2 Wage and Tax Statement reprints Respond to and collect audit selection requests and data Comply with local, state, and federal laws for taxes, vacation pay, termination pay, etc. Investigate payroll discrepancies using contract knowledge and partnership with HR Manage vendor and court relationships for garnishments, including interrogatories and data submission to third-party vendors Support payroll operations within union environments, ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements Handle payroll tax reporting, maintain vendor relationships, and lead remediation efforts for tax discrepancies or fallout REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field 3+ years payroll or related accounting experience PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
