About this role
Sr Counsel, Production & Legal Affairs Santa Monica, CA Job Description The Senior Counsel position will report to into the production legal function. The Senior Counsel will be responsible for drafting and negotiating development /production related agreements will conduct production clearance review of content, and render legal advice with respect to Starz's slate of original programming. Responsibilities Drafting and negotiating development agreements and related documentation (e.g. rights acquisition, writer producer, non-writing EP and other similar agreements) Drafting and negotiating production related documents (including location agreements, leases, content/clip licenses) Rendering day to day production review (including script review and production clearance work, such as title clearance and fair use assessment) and providing legal advice to creative and production executives, and other production personnel Solid understanding of copyright and issues involve right of publicity, defamation and privacy Conducting chain of title review and assessment; reviewing, interpreting and advising business executives about contracts generally Other responsibilities at the direction of the VP and SVP of Legal Affairs Experience & Skills Juris Doctor degree Member of the State Bar of California Minimum 5 years of legal experience gained in a law firm, preferably focusing on entertainment, or copyright/intellectual property; or gained in-house as part of a television network and/or studio Knowledge of televisions precedents and industry common custom and practice Strong drafting skills Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills Highly motivated, responsible, extremely detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment Compensation $170,000 - $210,000 About STARZ STARZ (NASDAQ:
