Direct Hire Public Notice - General Engineering/Physical Scientist Multiple Locations Summary This position is located in various organizations within the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Direct-Hire Authority (DHA) is a hiring authority granted by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to address critical hiring needs or severe candidate shortages. Direct hiring authority for the 0801/0810/1301/1306/1310/1320 series is being used. Duties NRC employees have responsibilities that include: protecting public health and safety; protecting the environment; protecting and safeguarding nuclear materials and plants in the interest of national security; and assuring conformity with antitrust laws. Agency employees perform these functions through: standards-setting and rule making, technical reviews and studies; conduct of public hearings; issuance of authorizations, permits, and licenses; inspection, investigation, and enforcement; evaluation of operating experience; and confirmatory research. Duties and responsibilities vary and may increase according to the grade level and series of the position. Requirements You must meet the qualifications for this position by no later than 30 calendar days after the closing date of this public notice and before placement in the position.
