Deputy Associate General Counsel- Division of Legal Counsel Washington, District of Columbia Summary The position of Deputy Associate General Counsel, Division of Legal Counsel, is located in the Division of Legal Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel. The Deputy Associate General Counsel reports to the Associate General Counsel in the Division. The incumbent of this position works with the Associate General Counsel, who reports directly to the General Counsel and the Deputy General Counsel. Duties The Deputy assists the Associate General Counsel, who exercises responsibility for administration of Division of Legal Counsel functions; in the absence of or at the designation of the Associate General Counsel, the Deputy acts in his or her stead as the head of the Division with full authority, as alter ego, to take action on any matters directed to the attention of the Associate General Counsel. As the Deputy Associate General Counsel the incumbent: Assists to directs and coordinate the activities of the Agency's Privacy Counsel, and the three branches in the Division of Legal Counsel: Contempt, Compliance, and Special Litigation; FOIA Branch; and E-Litigation Branch. Assists the Associate General Counsel's full charge of and final substantive responsibility for much of the Agency's contempt and compliance work, seeking to effectuate compliance with court judgments through contempt litigation in the U.S. Courts of Appeals and to investigate and litigate compliance issues to preserve and ensure effective remedies under the Act.
