Histology Lab Operator II San Carlos, CA POSITION SUMMARY: The Histology Lab Operator II is a member of the Histopathy Department responsible for assisting HT/HTLs in analyzing specimens and maintaining equipment in good condition. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assists certified/licensed personnel in clinical patient testing in accordance with the SOP • Perform histological preparations for the tissue whole exome sequencing laboratory with little to no errors • Duties may include but not limited to: preparation of tissues, stained slides, macrodissection and supporting workflow tasks • Sets up equipment and assists with automated lab procedures, as applicable • Assist and complete daily tasks • Maintains equipment and instruments in good operating condition • Maintain sufficient inventory of material, supplies, and equipment in the laboratory for the performance of duties • Documents information accurately and in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) • Provides Guidance for new team members • Train on specialized instructions for instruments/protocols (super users) • Identifies and escalates stuck cases and unresolved issues • Performs other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: • A minimum of 2+ years related experience • An associate's, or higher, degree in a histotechnician program OR An associate's degree, or higher, in one of the chemical or biological sciences AND one year of experience and/or training in histology within the past 5 years OR - completion of a course of training of at least nine months in a histotechnician program OR A bachelor's, or higher, degree in one of the chemical or biological sciences, including a
