About this role

Commodities Trader - China Sydney, Australia IMC is a global market maker, using advanced technology and sophisticated strategies to trade across major financial markets. With offices in Amsterdam, Chicago, and Sydney, we combine deep market expertise with cutting-edge systems to provide liquidity around the clock. Our China Commodities desk trades a broad range of products across China's commodity markets, spanning energy, precious metals, and base metals. Combining market expertise, research, and technology, we identify and capture opportunities across one of the world's most significant commodity ecosystems. As we continue to expand this business, we are looking for an experienced Commodities Trader to develop and execute China-focused trading strategies. Working closely with analysts, quantitative researchers, and technologists, you will help identify opportunities, manage risk, and drive the growth of the desk. Your Core Responsibilities: - Develop, execute, and scale profitable trading strategies across Chinese commodities markets (e.g., energy, precious metals, base metals). - Trade futures and related derivatives on major Chinese exchanges (SHFE, DCE, ZCE, INE, GFEX) and relevant offshore venues. - Integrate fundamental research, macroeconomic analysis, and geopolitical developments into trading decisions. - Partner closely with the Commodities Analyst team to incorporate insights on supply/demand dynamics, inventory trends, shipping flows, regulatory developments, and government policy into actionable strategies. - Identify and position around upcoming market catalysts, volatility events, and structural dislocations. - Generate directional and volatility-driven trade ideas based on global and domestic Chinese market intelligence. - Work alongside quantitative researchers and technologists to refine execution, enhance data-driven decision-making, and
