Overview: We are looking for a Staff Scalability Engineer with expertise in Cloud systems (preferably AWS) to lead optimization, monitoring, and tuning our existing cloud infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in identifying and implementing changes to our application's infrastructure and architecture to improve platform availability and scalability. This role will work across multiple, small, cross-functional engineering groups to help our application meet rapidly growing, global demand. Responsibilities: - Lead capacity planning, autoscaling, and performance optimization across our application. - Define and enforce best practices for scalability, reliability, observability, and infrastructure resilience. - Conduct architectural reviews and propose improvements to enhance performance and cost efficiency. - Partner with engineering teams on the implementation of micro service infrastructure (API gateways, containerization strategies, etc.) with an eye toward data contract and scalability best practices. - Implement and improve metrics systems to diagnose performance bottlenecks using modern tooling (e.g., CloudWatch, X-Ray, OpenTelemetry, Splunk). - Partner with engineering teams to help enforce SLOs/SLAs. - Lead incident response initiatives for high-severity cloud infrastructure
