Database Systems Senior Analyst US OH Akron Corp Hdqtrs As a Database Systems Senior Analyst, this role is a technical IT position responsible for supporting and maintaining relational databases and related tools that host critical data for in‑house and third‑party applications such as SAP, WebSphere, AutoSys, Informatica, and manufacturing systems. The position requires a strong understanding of database administration principles including performance tuning, monitoring, upgrades, patching, backups, recovery, and routine maintenance. The analyst ensures database availability, reliability, and performance through proactive monitoring and best practices. The role also requires working knowledge of operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and UNIX to effectively support database environments. Why This Role Matters Ensures availability and reliability of mission‑critical data supporting core business operations and enterprise applications, minimizing downtime and operational risk. Drives database performance, stability, and security through proactive monitoring, tuning, maintenance, and adherence to best practices. Supports enterprise‑wide systems and integrations, enabling seamless data flow across in‑house and third‑party platforms such as SAP and manufacturing systems. Strengthens IT infrastructure resilience by combining database expertise with operating system knowledge to support scalable and secure environments. What You Will Do Support enterprise‑wide, mission‑critical and non‑mission‑critical databases, including test and development environments, ensuring availability and performance. Perform database administration activities such as physical database design, backups and recovery, patching, upgrades, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Collaborate closely with application and operating system teams to meet space, performance, security, and backup requirements. Participate in the analysis, design, and implementation of new and existing database systems, ensuring compliance
