Staff Psychologist Behavioral Health / SCI - EDRP Approved, Recruitment/Relocation Incentive Dallas, Texas Summary The Organizational Location of the Position is: Spinal Cord Injury Unit/ Behavioral Health Team, Mental Health Service, VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS), Dallas, TX. The Primary Purpose of the Position: To serve as an entry level staff psychologist on the multidisciplinary Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Unit in which the employee spends a portion of their time in direct patient care services and a portion of their time in program development activities. Duties Duties include but are not limited to: This is a direct patient care position which requires General Core Psychology privileges. This position will require the provider to work with the inpatient SCI population, the outpatient SCI population, or with home visits as assigned by the supervisor. The incumbent may also be called upon for crisis management or coverage of other areas of mental health if need is identified by the Chief of Psychology. The psychologist's main clinical role is to assess and treat a wide variety of psychological conditions typically co-morbidly seen with SCI and related medical disorders. The employee demonstrates knowledge regarding the interaction of cognitive, personality, psychological and psychosocial factors in the context of disability and rehabilitation. The employee diagnoses psychological conditions using a variety of assessment techniques including clinical interview and psychological assessment through completion of annual evaluations, team member referrals or by other means.
