About this role

Registered Nurse - Critical Care Baltimore, Maryland Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible. Duties The Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and for overseeing licensed vocational nurses and nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting. The nurse assists in directing nursing education, orientation, competency development, and provides consultation on quality improvement and outcomes utilization. Demonstrating leadership, the RN delivers and enhances holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. The nurse provides direct care to acutely or critically ill patients who are at high risk for actual or potential life-threatening health problems, regardless of the setting in which nursing care is provided. They deliver high-intensity care and vigilance, refining assessment skills and synthesizing data from a variety of invasive and noninvasive monitoring technologies. The nurse evaluates their practice on an ongoing basis, utilizing the best available evidence. They offer informal, constructive feedback to peers to foster improvement and create a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals.
