About this role

Physician - Pulmonologist - Recruitment/Relocation Incentive and EDRP Authorized Des Moines, Iowa Summary This full time opportunity is located at the Central Iowa VA Healthcare Facility in Des Moines, IA. Duties Duties include: Provide expert consultation and treatment for patients with Pulmonary conditions Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including history taking, physical examinations, and the ordering of diagnostic labs and tests and studies. Interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests and follow-up on test results in a timely manner. The Pulmonary Physician should have expertise in pulmonary procedures; including bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, chest tubes, pleurovac, and other skills depending on facility privileging. Physician will work with pulmonary clinic staff, respiratory staff and other disciplines to develop and implement plan of care according to patient need. Provide Electronic Consultation services (E-Consults) and reviews consults for determination if appropriate for Care in the Community or local/regional VA services. Typical work hours are Monday to Friday 8-4.30 PM. Alternative work hours, if desired, should be agreed upon at the time of joining. Each full-time provider is required to work a minimum of 80 hours per pay period (every two weeks) unless on leave status. Provide education and counseling for patients regarding medical conditions, health status and the use of prescribed treatment and drugs. Collaborate and consult with other providers, nursing, social work, psychologists, and pharmacists as needed to ensure seamless and comprehensive patient care. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences if indicated, including discharge planning. Physicians may be assigned duty as a supervising or collaborating physician
