About this role

Physician (Pulmonary/Sleep Medicine) Louisville, Kentucky Summary The Pulmonary Doctor will provide specialized care in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with pulmonary diseases and conditions. The role involves both outpatient and inpatient services, including consultation and ongoing care for veterans with respiratory disorders. Duties Duties include but not limited to: 1. Clinical Care: Provide comprehensive pulmonary care to veterans diagnosed with respiratory conditions. Diagnose and treat pulmonary diseases, including but not limited to, COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, and lung cancer. Perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as chest X-rays, CT scans, pulmonary function tests, and bronchoscopy procedures. Develop treatment plans based on the best available scientific evidence and clinical guidelines. Conduct follow-up appointments and ongoing management of chronic respiratory conditions. 2. Inpatient Services: Provide inpatient care in the ICU and general medical wards for patients with respiratory and related conditions, Participate in on-call duties and provide consultations to other services within the Robley Rex VA Medical Center. Assist in the management of mechanically ventilated patients and participate in multidisciplinary rounds. 3. Outpatient Services: Conduct outpatient clinics, including new patient evaluations and follow-up visits. Educate patients and families on disease prevention, management, and treatment plans. 4. Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including primary care physicians, specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Participate in case conferences, departmental meetings, and quality improvement initiatives. Provide advice and consultation to colleagues within the VA Medical Center and associated outpatient clinics. 5. Research and Education: Engage in clinical
