Physician - Anesthesiology (Cardiac) Aurora, Colorado Summary The Eastern Colorado Health Care System is currently looking for a Physician - Anesthesiologist (Cardiac) Duties Start, continue, or finish your career here | VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System(youtube.com) This position is a blend of general anesthesia and cardiac anesthesia. FUNCTION/SCOPE OF THE POSITION: The staff anesthesiologist administers anesthesia care alone or supervises physicians in-training (residents) or certified registered nurse anesthetists. When working alone, he/she examines the patient before and after anesthesia, writes pre- and post-anesthesia orders, confirms that the patient is ready for anesthesia before induction, manages the anesthetic period, and follows patients if is appropriate in the post-anesthesia period. DUTIES/TASKS AND RESPONSIBLITIES: When supervising trainees, an attending anesthesiologist meets the following conditions to demonstrate sufficient personal and identifiable medical services to the patient to exercise full, personal control over the management of anesthetic care. The attending anesthesiologist must as a minimum: Review the patient's history and the record of examination and tests. Personally, will examine the patient. Confirm or revise the course of treatment to be followed. Either performs the anesthesiologist's services required by the patient or supervises the treatment to assure that appropriate services are provided by residents or CRNAs. Be recognized by the patient as his/her attending anesthesiologist. The attending anesthesiologist, in providing medical direction of a CRNA must as a minimum: Evaluate the pre-anesthetic examination and evaluation. Prescribe the anesthesia plan using appropriate techniques of the plan such as, but not limited to insertion of intravenous lines,
