About this role

Hematology/Oncology Physician Martinsburg, West Virginia Summary NOTE: The 2-page Resume requirement does not apply to this occupational series. Medical Center, part of the VA Capitol Health Care Network (VISN 5), offers a comprehensive range of services, including internal medicine, ambulatory surgery, audiology and speech pathology, dental, nursing home, nutrition, podiatry, prosthetics, women's health, mental health and rehabilitation medicine. Duties This position will be in the Medical service and will report directly to the Medical Sub-specialty NOS Supervisor, who in turn will report to the Chief of Medicine. The Hematology/Oncology Physician shall provide care at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center. All labor and services shall be provided including management, supervision, teaching, consultations and reports. Performance shall be according to the requirements contained in this functional statement and professional standards of The Joint Commission. Physician's clinical activity shall be a function of the VAMC Executive Committee of the Medical Staff clinical privileging process. Provides direct hands-on patient care including evaluation and treatment of the hematology/oncology patients, determination whether patients need to be admitted to the hospital or managed in the outpatient setting, and management of chronic disease. Comprehensive initial medical/psychosocial history and physical examination. Order appropriate diagnostic tests and work-up. Review and interpret diagnostic tests and take appropriate action. Formulate and record diagnostic impressions. Refer patients with appropriate consultations both within the VA and in the community.
