Carpentry Worker Long Beach, California Summary The Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Carpentry Worker, at the Engineering Service of Facility Operations Section, Long Beach, CA. The work involves constructing, altering, maintaining, and repairing buildings, structures, partitions, panels, tool cabinets, bookcases, work benches, and other items using wood, wood substitutes, and composite building materials. Duties Duties include but are not limited to the following: Construct, alter, repair, and/or modifies items and structures, such as frameworks, doors, windows, screens, desks, chairs, panic hardware, work benches, cabinets, display racks, counter tops and shelves. Install various forms of drywall i.e., type "x" or lead-lined drywall. Fit and hang doors. Drill metal and wood doors for hardware. Install ceiling tile and "T" bars. Layout and install wall protection, such as stainless steel or vinyl sheets. Repair and install cove base. Hang pictures, portraits or any other items on the wall in a safe and secure manner. Set up and operate a wide variety of wood working machines and tools. Assemble items with a variety of joining techniques, such as miters, rabbets, dados, biscuit, mortise and tenon and/or uses glues and/or adhesive to secure wood pieces, veneers and/or counter tops. Utilize wood, metal, and various composite materials when installing or replacing interior partitions, flooring, panels, suspended ceilings, counter tops and/or moldings. Interpret drawings, blueprints and/or specifications independently and determine the layout and/or work sequences and/or types of lumber or special related materials.
