About this role

Carpenter Leavenworth, Kansas Summary Position functions as a Carpenter for the Eastern Kansas Health Care System, Facilities Management Service, and performs a full range of carpentry and related maintenance duties, placing a high emphasis on general carpentry and interior renovations to maintain a safe and functional environment. Duties Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Constructs, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures, such as windows, doors, floors, ceilings, and cabinetry. Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements. Operates woodworking machines and uses hand tools to cut, shape, and form wood, plastic, and other materials. Installs frameworks, partitions, doors, and windows. Prepares and applies coating materials on wood, metal, concrete, synthetic, and other surfaces utilizing standard and special methods of the painting trade. Repairs drywall and plaster; patches and finishes surfaces; replaces damaged components; ensures paint-ready condition. Measures and calculates the quantity of wall covering needed for a wall-covering task. Uses metals, synthetic resins, plastics, and patching compounds, pumice, and rottenstone for evening out dents and scars in the surfaces to be covered. Conducts inspections; performs preventive maintenance; documents work; ensures compliance with standards. Maintain all tools and equipment in operating condition. Performs interior and exterior painting. Executes painting both inside and outside of buildings, equipment, furnishings, machinery, and other surfaces. Performs exterior road striping and marking using appropriate paint and equipment. Erects rigging, staging, and scaffolding as part of the painting operation. Performs a variety of work in related construction trades.
