About this role

Security Guard (Open to U.S. Citizens) Fort Eustis, Virginia Summary This position is located in the Office of Ship Operations, Office of the Deputy Associate Administrator for Federal Sealift, Office of the Associate Administrator for Strategic Sealift, Maritime Administration (MARAD). This position is established to protect and prevent loss of materials and ensure that no unauthorized access to the facility is gained. The employee is responsible for protecting federally owned or leased buildings and property and controlling access to Federal installations. Duties The Security Guard: Patrols assigned limited and exclusion areas on foot or by vehicle, maintaining constant surveillance over areas being protected. Controls the ingress and egress of personnel, vehicles, and property into all areas of the compound and offices. Responds to real and simulated emergencies; enforces laws, regulations, and orders; and makes physical apprehensions in accordance with guard orders. Makes clear, factual, and complete oral and written reports. The ideal candidate demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of security protocols, regulatory requirements, and access control procedures, with the ability to independently execute a full spectrum of security operations in routine and high-risk environments. They apply sound judgment in incident response, enforcement actions, and use-of-force decisions, while maintaining proficiency in surveillance systems, communications equipment, and standardized reporting.
