Public Notice for Medical Officer (Direct Hire) May be filled in various FAA duty locations Summary Direct hiring authority for the 0602 series is being used to fill this position. Public Notices serve as a resume repository, and positions may or may not be filled from this announcement. Duties The Office of Aerospace Medicine develops and manages medical programs in support of aviation safety (AVS). The programs include Airman Medical Certification, the Aviation Medical Examiner Program, Air Traffic Control Specialist, Applicant Examination Program, and the Internal Substance Abuse Program. Duties may include, but are not limited to: Professional contact between the Regional Flight Surgeon's office, Aviation Medical Examiners and Air Traffic Organization management Determining medical eligibility of air traffic controllers, to include providing for medical examinations for all employees and applicants for safety-related positions which have medical standards and for specialist exams, as required Incumbent is available for consultations with managers in health and medical matters. Assists with civilian airmen medical certification Oversight of the Aviation Medical Examiner Program and the OSHA program The incumbent assists in the operations of the regional medical programs consistent with the national objectives and the Quality Management System (IS09001) Incumbent assists in development and implementation of program and administrative goals, and in the supervision of Regional Office staff Incumbent reports directly to the Deputy Regional Flight Surgeon in all technical and administrative matters A Supervisory Medical Officer; he/she is responsible for the supervision of subordinate personnel in the regional office, other duties may include
