MAINTENANCE WORKER Norfolk, Virginia Summary This position is located at the Unaccompanied Housing (UH) Office at Naval Station Norfolk. The purpose of this position is to perform UH Barracks and Dormitory facilities minor maintenance repairs, involving two or more of the skilled trades. Incumbent performs intermediate-level tasks and works more independently as training and experience increase. Duties Ensures security of all Unaccompanied Housing residents is always maintained. Ensures Unaccompanied Housing residents' privacy is always maintained. The incumbent is responsible for a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks involving standard methods related to the operation and maintenance of physical plant facilities . Performing work in at least two or more of the following trades requiring a higher level of skill than NA-4749-07 in the maintenance and repair of buildings and related fixtures or having significant emphasis in one of the higher level licensed trades : Electrical; Heating, Ventilation and Cooling; or Plumbing. Maintains work order log and follows up as required. Reports status to supervisor. Logs trouble calls with contractor as appropriate. Plumbing: Makes basic plumbing repairs to sinks, faucets, commodes, tanks, urinals, P -traps, shut-off valves on washing machines and water supply that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, resealing, replacing defective parts or units, installing water heaters, garbage disposals, faucets and sinks. Washer/ Dryer repair: Performs routine maintenance on washers and dryers to include cleaning lint ducts and vents, replacing hoses and fittings as required, and referring more complex problems to supervisor for action.
