INTERDISCIPLINARY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/ OCEANOGRAPHER/ GEOPHYSICIST Stennis Space Center, Mississippi Summary You will serve as an INTERDISCIPLINARY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/ OCEANOGRAPHER/ GEOPHYSICIST in the Ocean Products Division (N91), Ocean Projects Department (N9), Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS. This is a RE-ADVERTISEMENT of Announcement Number: ST-12955211-26-KSW. Applicants that have previously applied NEED to re-apply to this announcement. Duties You will have knowledge of instructions, policies, and procedures governing the management and operation of oceanographic survey vessels and ships of opportunity. You will have the capability to clearly and concisely communicate relevant technical information, both orally and in writing. You will perform as a forward deployed leader on various platforms leading teams of scientists, engineers, technicians during field operations. You will interface with major U.S. Department of Defense staffs, Department of State, U.S. Coast Guard, Embassies and Defense Attaches, foreign governments, and various sponsor related agencies. You will obtain approval for survey operations, promoting cooperation, and exchanging information and ideas among these organizations. You will assure that remedial actions are taken and monitors such actions until correction of the casualty is achieved. You will perform other duties as assigned. Education Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess General Physical Science Series, 1301 Basic Requirements: Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. or Combination of education
