Learn more about this authority at: Direct Hire Authority This Supervisory Wildland Firefighter (Assistant Fire Management Officer) position is with the US Wildland Fire Service, GW-0456-11 working in the following location(s): Fairbanks, Alaska Duties As a Supervisory Wildland Firefighter (Assistant Fire Management Officer) - Direct Hire Authority your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Review preparedness actions and operating plans used in the management of wildland fires. Coordinate operations with cooperating agencies on multijurisdictional wildland fires addressing risk to human safety and potential for damage to resources and improvements. Responsible for long-range fire management planning activities by interacting with all disciplines (interdisciplinary teams) as well as subordinate leadership, employees of the organization, and cooperators from other federal, state, tribal, and local agencies. Ensure that the fuels management program is consistent with ecosystem management principles and land use plans and is applied on a landscape basis. Assign and review work on a regular basis, assuring that production and accuracy requirements are met. Requirements Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Suitability for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation. Direct Deposit Required.
