About this role

Supervisory Environmental Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense (DOD) Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as Chief, Natural Resources Branch and senior staff consultant on all environmental programs. Provides professional engineering, physical science, and/or natural and cultural resources management services. Duties Interpret policies, directives and develops supplemental guidance as necessary when existing guidance is not adequate or is ambiguous. Provide management oversight for the Installation Pest Management program. Answer requests for information about the program for a variety of agencies, the public and congressional sources on subject matters that can be environmentally sensitive in high risk, low-trust situations. Recommend measures to mitigate adverse environmental effects of proposed actions. Serve as the natural resources project manager/action officer on complex projects, including major construction, involving significant natural/cultural resource issues. Serve as senior natural resources specialist and authority for requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Develop and implement programs to inform installation elements and the public about aspects of the natural and cultural resource management programs at the installation. Education CONTINUATION OF QUALIFICAITONS - BASIC REQUIREMENT AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCED. Basic Requirement for GS-1301-13, Supervisory Physical Science: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
