About this role
Public Safety Telecommunicator (Office Automation) Fort Knox, Kentucky Summary About the Position: Serves as a Public Safety Telecommunicator (Office Automation) for dispatching Fire, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Law Enforcement (LE) responders, monitoring alarms and activating Mass Notification Systems in Army Garrison Public Safety Answering Points/911 Centers. Duties Provide emergency services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment. Provide initial incident command support until responding emergency units arrive on scene. Responsible for caller interrogation to determine the problem and the nature of the call. Identify nature of emergency, level of response required based on local protocols, and provide any additional information to the responding units. Monitor computerized fire alarm system and other alarm systems such as Joint Capabilities Integration Development System (IDIDS) alarm systems. Maintain an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to ensure prompt and accurate response. Operate Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) system, telephones, radios, and station alert systems. Provide emergency medical dispatching assistance to callers with medical emergencies. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
