About this role
HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICIAN Chesapeake City, Maryland Summary About the Position: Works alone or with other electricians to maintain the electrical utilities along the C&D Canal and at the Chesapeake City, MD. Project office. Uses a comprehensive knowledge of electrical principals and practices to install, repair and maintain a 7200 volt aerial lighting system along the canal, the electrical systems on four high-level highway bridges over the canal and the facilities at the project office. Duties Install, modify, test, repair, troubleshoot and maintain transformers, cables, switches, circuit breakers, fused cutouts, lightning arrestors, ground connections and related mechanical and electronic equipment Work on aerial and underground cable systems to locate shorts, opens, grounds, crosses and electrolysis damage Locate and mark underground utilities prior to excavation. Set poles and anchors, hang transformers, oil switches and wires. Installs, repairs and maintains oil fired hot air and hot water heating systems, electric water heaters, electric space heaters and all related HVAC equipment Works with various type pipe systems (i.e. iron, copper, pvc and cpvc) and must demonstrate ability to layout and assemble using glues, sweat soldering and hand and power tools common to the trade.
