Air Reserve Technicians are full-time civilian employees who are also members of the Air Force Reserve unit in which they are employed. In addition to their civilian assignments, they are assigned to equivalent positions in the Reserve organization with a Reserve military rank or grade. Appointee's civilian assignments will consist of the following duties. Duties The primary purpose of this position is: an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer is to serve as the Aircraft Maintenance or Maintenance Squadron Commander. In this capacity, the incumbent of this position is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling the activities and operations of all maintenance functions in the assigned squadron. Additionally, Provides training to reservists in the accomplishment of the tasks set forth herein. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Plans, directs, organizes, and coordinates the maintenance activity within existing policies and objectives. Makes determinations and decisions regarding equipment repair and overhaul capability which directly affect the mission. 2. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate supervisors. Advises staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters. 3. Represents the wing with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with other group commanders, representatives and senior staff at Numbered Air Force, HQ AFRC, gaining MAJCOMs, and Air Staff.
