Government Information Specialist (FOIA) Washington, District of Columbia Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Secretary and Executive Management, Office of Privacy. The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for processing Office of Privacy's FOIA requests at the direction of the attending supervisor. Receiving and processing FOIA/PA actions, determines action to be taken; and prepares all necessary correspondence notices, memoranda or other documentation. Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position. Duties As a Government Information Specialist (FOIA), GS-0306-7/9, your typical work assignments may include: Monitors the status and progress of each Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) case assigned and responds to inquiries. As directed by the attending supervisor s, performs a variety of responsibilities in accordance with applicable grade level such as an in-depth review and analysis of each request received. Receive and/or provide guidance in determining exactly what materials and documents are required. Coordinates with other DHS-wide offices and other agencies and/or components as required. Performs research as needed and in accordance with the appropriate guidance for issues that arise in the context of processing complex initial requests.
