About this role
Personnel Security Specialist Sobe, Japan Summary About the Position: This position is located at Sobe, Okinawa, Japan with the Department of War Education Activity Security Management Division's Personnel Security Branch, Federal employees in Okinawa, Japan are not currently entitled to receive a Post Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary; however, this amount is subject to change at any time. The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is transitioning to the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA). Duties Responsible for assessing, evaluating, and reviewing background investigation documentation and information for DODEA workforce to determine reciprocity, interim eligibility, acceptable risk and Line of Sight Supervision (LOSS). Maintain and update all Personnel Security systems. Apply Federal Law, Department of Defense (DoD) and agency regulations to determine the type of investigations; along with the impact of breaks in service for eligibility determinations. Evaluate the authenticity, veracity and pertinence of the data to the case at hand and requests additional investigations, requests interrogatories, or develops other information if needed. Assists the Insider Threat Program Manager with the overall development, implementation, operation and maintenance of the DoDEA Insider Threat program. Conducts day-to-day liaison with investigative and counterintelligence agencies of the DoD and other government agencies in performance of official duties. Education Some positions allow you to substitute education for experience. For this position you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
