About this role
Mechanical Engineer 2 Locations The application window is expected to close on: 05/14/2026 Job posting may be removed earlier if the position is filled or if a sufficient number of applications are received . Designs and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment and packaging. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation. Applies understanding of thermal and electrical engineering to conceptual design and architectural design. What You'll Do • May lead medium scale mechanical engineering projects with manageable risks and resource requirements and collaborate with cross functional teams to develop Cisco products • Drives medium features from architecture and design through fabrication and delivery based on product development requirements • Assists manufacturing team with fixture design and assembly process enhancement • Applies FMEA techniques to resolve fabrication and manufacturing issues • Develops test plans, failure analysis, reliability and verification rules for developed design elements, materials, parts and products • Performs structural simulations to analyze and conducts stress tests as needed, including working with DVT team to identify and debug design issues • Performs complex system level stack up tolerance studies • Involved in high level of design language from initial design to useability, using influences from customers and marketing • Sets standards for BoM and the right materials to be used in product, ensuring yield and cost improvement • Ensures products and materials are designed for high volume
