About this role
Groundwater Systems Technical Discipline Leader If you're passionate about advancing groundwater systems and ready to help grow a high‑impact discipline, this role offers an exciting opportunity to lead, innovate, and shape the future of our groundwater and Aquifer Storage & Recovery (ASR) practice. As the Groundwater & ASR Discipline Leader, you will guide a multidisciplinary team through master planning, detailed design, and delivery of complex groundwater projects. You'll play a key role in CDM Smith's transformational growth, technical excellence, and industry leadership. What You'll Do Lead the development of groundwater engineering designs-from well drilling and pump selection to pumping stations, wellhead appurtenances, and full wellfield design. Support a diverse portfolio of groundwater systems, including brackish groundwater supply, ASR, indirect potable reuse, and Class I injection wells. Work closely with civil, process mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, I&C, permitting, and construction teams to deliver integrated solutions across all project phases. Prepare and manage technical deliverables such as reports, memoranda, drawings, specifications, and proposals. Ensure all work complies with firm standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices. Develop technical scopes for drilling programs, aquifer testing, sampling, and geophysical investigations. Contribute to the firm's Technical Knowledge Management by producing white papers, documenting innovative approaches, and supporting publication efforts. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and industry partners; represent the firm at conferences and professional events.
