Engineer - IT Application Architect Groton, CT, US Overview Opportunity Summary: General Dynamics Electric Boat, the world's foremost designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking an IT Application Architect to join the organization within the Information Technology Department. The ideal candidate will have an enterprise mindset with the goal of aligning IT work with business-driven objectives. Relevant profiles include broad IT knowledge and experience with information systems, business and technology architecture domains as well as architecture frameworks and processes. The candidate should be an active learner and able to work independently on multiple tasks simultaneously. This role requires experience across varying applications in the areas of software requirements definition, development, design, and re-engineering Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Interpreting business needs to define and address a solution's functional and nonfunctional architectural requirements Articulating ideas through compelling and relatable narratives to educate and engage relevant stakeholders Resolving issues and making progress even when given unclear, contradictory, or inconsistent information Collaborating with other IT professionals, such as other application architects, data architects, software developers, system engineers, and infrastructure engineers Designing or governing IT application solution architectures to meet internal and/or external business needs Managing formal and informal communications with target
