Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Intern is primarily responsible for facilitating month-end close processes, general ledger and bank reconciliations and journal entries pertaining to the Retail Finance, Commercial Finance and Accounts Payables business lines of BMW Group Financial Services Canada. Perform general ledger accounting functions such as journal entry preparation, month-end close processes, financial reporting accuracy and compliance to IFRS, GL account reconciliations and analysis of key balance sheet and income statement account balance movements. Provide support to the accounting team for efficient month-end, quarter-end and year-end close. Prepare mid-year, interim, year-end audit working papers and coordinate with manager for both internal and external auditors. Discuss reoccurring variances with the Accounting team, identify system problems and recommend solutions to the US IT team in order to fix at the root cause.
