About this role
Scientist - Erlanger, KY Scientist - Erlanger, KY MAIN FUNCTION: This subject matter expert in non-volatile analytical chemistry will be leading and executing on our longer-term projects, while also running analyses on a broad range of commercially important samples, including beverages, foods and flavors using a multitude of instruments (UPLC-MS, UPC2-MS, UPLC), adjusting and developing methods as needed. DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED: - Advanced role delivering analytical insight to CD&D, R&D and the broader business. - Will perform daily laboratory tasks such as: - Non-volatile analysis using UPLC-MS, UPC2-MS and UPLC - Sample preparation (foods, beverages, flavors, etc.) - Method development, analysis, method validation - Maintenance and simple instrument repairs - Collaboration with the North American and Global R&D teams along with our local team of flavorists. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: - PhD or Master's degree in analytical chemistry or food chemistry and 5+ years of experience is ideal but not mandatory; - Bachelor's with 10+ years also possible. - A minimum of 3 years' experience with LC-MS. Experience in the flavor industry is a plus. - Meticulous work ethic, highly motivated with good communication skills and a team player. KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: - Confident use of analytical instrumentation (LC-MS) and MS data analysis software (Waters, MassLynx advantageous). Familiarity with UPC2 is a plus. - Attention to detail. - Ability to execute analytical projects with stringent prioritization regarding timeline and analytical scope needed to fulfill the customer's request.
