About this role
Software Development Engineers , Amazon Japan Store Tech Tokyo, JPN Do you want to directly impact how millions of Japanese customers receive their Amazon deliveries? Do you enjoy solving complex optimization problems that reduce cost while preserving - or improving - the customer experience? The Japan Delivery Experience (JP DEX) team is part of Amazon's Japan Store Tech organization, based in Tokyo. We own the logic that filter, group, default, and split delivery options across the Amazon Japan retail website - from browse and search pages through checkout. Our work touches every customer order flowing through Amazon.co.jp. We focus on consolidation initiatives - finding ways to intelligently combine shipments and optimize delivery scheduling to reduce delivery costs without compromising speed or customer satisfaction. Our systems operate at massive scale, processing delivery option decisions for millions of transactions. We're looking for an SDE-I who is curious, thinks big, and wants to own real customer-facing systems from day one. You'll work on distributed systems that directly influence how delivery options are presented to customers, building and operating services that handle high-throughput, low-latency decision-making in a complex logistics domain. Key job responsibilities Your primary responsibilities are designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining distributed software solutions independently. These solutions range across technical stacks and domain, from web applications and backend services, to cloud architecture and machine learning.
