Senior Hardware Development Engineer , Customer Terminals Redmond, Washington, USA Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Amazon LEO will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity. Leo's Customer Terminal organization is responsible for developing low cost Consumer Terminals based on phased array antennas and commercial PCB processes/materials. Both projects are a first for Amazon, requiring unique architecture, hardware, processes, and tools developed within Leo to scale to a diverse set of customers in the next 5-10 years. Senior Hardware Engineers at Leo lead cross-functional efforts related to the consumer terminal antenna board development. They are the single-threaded owner of the Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), collaborating with their peers from silicon, RF, antenna, technical program management, and mechanical from concept/architecture phase through functional, environmental testing and integration phases. The Senior Hardware Engineer will have a complete understanding of how their design changes impact downstream partners such as operations, supply chain, product management, and reliability. They will daily make high-value judgements on tactical vs strategic decisions to achieve the system performance targets and maintain schedules despite unexpected challenges.
