About this role
Manager III, Software Development, SCOT-Fulfillment Optimization, Outbound Optimization Vancouver, British Columbia, CAN Join the Fulfillment Optimization team and help drive optimization of Amazon's outbound volume for maximized flow efficiency! You will will be leading systems that calibrate continuous optimization of Amazon package flow, handle hundreds of millions of orders per week globally, capture and visualize big data from the order and shipment flow, and simulate what-if scenarios that help make billion dollar decisions. Today, Amazon fulfillment network faces new challenges associated with faster-than-ever speeds, and higher-than-ever volumes. Amazon fulfills most of orders using First Party network resources, which represent sunk cost investment that needs to be utilized to the full. This calls for a shift from myopic problem of per-package assignment to solving global optimality problems, sometimes resulting in making intelligent suboptimal choices locally for the sake of globally optimal network that follows a well-coordinated system built around a consistent set of goals. This space requires a high level of strategy, engagement, execution, and operations to evolve the fulfillment capabilities for the next decade and solve 21st century problems with 21st century technologies. This initiative is fundamental to Amazon's future success, and will provide great personal satisfaction and career development as we tackle some of the most intriguing transportation problems. The perfect candidate will thrive outside of defined role guidelines, practice bar-raising ownership, make sacrifices to achieve strategic success, elevate their subordinates, manage upwards, and be able to explain their space to a 5-year-old. Key job responsibilities A successful candidate
