About this role

Corporate Counsel, Environmental and Hazardous Goods Compliance Arlington, Virginia, USA Amazon is looking for an exceptional regulatory and compliance attorney with significant experience counseling clients on hazardous goods or environmental law. This is a unique opportunity to support Amazon's store and operational businesses to build new and audit existing processes that raise the bar for Amazon's compliance with hazardous goods and environmental compliance requirements. In this role, you will be responsible for counseling on regulatory and operational requirements as well as impacting the development and continual improvement of our state-of-the-art technology tools used in our operational facilities and stores. Key job responsibilities - Providing day-to-day advice to Amazon's Hazardous Goods and Environmental Compliance teams - Monitoring and advising compliance, business, and legal teams on upcoming regulatory changes and maintenance of existing compliance processes - Providing mission critical legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools developed and used by compliance teams - Advising on internal processes and practices to support governance requirements and expectations - Serving as lead counsel in the response and resolution of applicable regulatory inquiries such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Transportation, California Air Resources Board, and Environment and Climate Change Canada.
