About this role
Design Technologist San Francisco, CA; New York, NY Airtable is the no-code app platform that empowers people closest to the work to accelerate their most critical business processes. More than 500,000 organizations, including 80% of the Fortune 100, rely on Airtable to transform how work gets done. Airtable has a design system with real foundations and a community of designers and engineers who contribute to it. We're looking for someone who can be dedicated to building out and evolving this system, as well as bring a sharp point of view on how AI changes the way UI gets built. You'll sit in Design, but your work lives equally in Figma and production code. This is a high-autonomy IC role with broad cross-functional reach. What you'll do - Collaborate on the existing system. Assess its state, establish direction with other contributors, and close the gap between design specs and implementation. - Build and ship components and tokens yourself, while evolving contribution standards with the broader community of designers and engineers who maintain the system alongside you. - Develop and evangelize a point of view on AI-assisted UI development. Experiment with tooling, workflows, and system structures that make AI a reliable collaborator for anyone writing UI code: engineers, designers, and PMs. - Build and maintain the AI tooling layer for UI: Claude skills, Cursor rules, LLM-consumable documentation, or whatever meaningfully improves the quality and velocity of coding UI. - Partner with designers, engineers, and accessibility to Improve the quality of user experience
