Database Engineer 2 Locations 8x8 connects our customers and teams globally, empowering CX leaders with performance and insights to make smarter decisions, delight customers, and drive lasting business impact. Database Engineer 8x8 is seeking a Database Engineer to join our engineering team responsible for managing and optimizing database infrastructure across on-premises, AWS, and OCI environments. This is a hands-on role requiring deep expertise in relational database systems, replication architectures, performance tuning, and automation. You will partner with development and infrastructure teams to ensure database platforms deliver the highest levels of availability, performance, and data integrity across a globally distributed environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives under pressure, and is passionate about database reliability at scale. Responsibilities Manage and optimize Oracle 11g/19c RAC, MySQL 5.7/8, and PostgreSQL database systems and related infrastructure across on-premises, AWS, and OCI cloud environments. Plan and execute database upgrades - Oracle and MySQL - ensuring minimal downtime across all environments. Perform advanced database troubleshooting, query performance tuning, and issue resolution across Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, HAProxy, and Keepalived. Design, implement, and maintain database replication topologies including master-slave and master-master configurations. Develop and maintain automation for database operations using Linux shell scripting, Python, Terraform, and Ansible. Manage backup and recovery operations using RMAN, mysqldump, pg_dump, and other tools - ensuring RPO/RTO targets are met. Implement and maintain database monitoring, alerting, and dashboards using Grafana, CloudWatch, or equivalent platforms.
