About this role

Senior Backend Engineer New York City, New York Via is using technology to transform transportation around the world. As a Senior Backend Engineer at Via, you'll work within our core R&D center as a member of our Platform team. You'll be part of a team of developers and devops engineers, directly contributing to our product by using cutting-edge technologies. You'll take a critical part in our mission to shape the future of transportation, affecting tens of thousands of riders daily worldwide. The Platform Group is a cross-functional group dedicated to building and maintaining the robust foundation on which Via operates. This team is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD systems, shared services and tools that power our development and production environments. **This is a hybrid position with the expectation that you will be onsite in NYC 2-3 days a week.** What You'll Do: - Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems that improve Via's platform. - Own backend features end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to deployment and maintenance. - Define infrastructure and standards for engineering teams across the company. - Research and recommend new technologies for our engineering teams. - Develop a deep understanding of the software and architecture at Via. - Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve backend issues to ensure system uptime and performance. - Work closely with partner teams across the company to enable success.
