About this role

Motor Vehicle Operator Suitland, Maryland Summary This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Operations DC, Washington National Records Center. The incumbent operates a truck with a gross vehicle weight of over 22,000 pounds, to transport federal records and other cargo between Federal agencies and Congress. This may include occasionally operating a passenger vehicle such as a car or van and using equipment to load, unload and move cargo within a facility. All appropriate licenses are required. Duties As a Motor Vehicle Operator, you will: Operate government vehicles to transport records, equipment, and materials between agency locations while ensuring the safe handling and security of all items, including classified and sensitive records. Perform record operations support work related to reference requests, accessions, relocations, transshipments, refiles, interfiles, shelving and records disposition activities to support agency and customer service needs. Load, unload, move and stage records and materials using proper material handling and safety procedures to prevent damage, loss, and misfiling of records. Conduct routine vehicle inspections, identify maintenance concerns, and ensure assigned vehicles and equipment are operated safely and maintained in serviceable condition. Work independently, and as part of a team, to complete daily assignments, meet operational deadlines and support records management operation across multiple functional areas.
