About this role
Lead Building Engineer Cambridge, MA The Lead Building Engineer leads and oversees the day-to-day operations and maintenance of building systems, ensuring efficient and safe building performance while supervising engineering staff and contractors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Monitor the operating condition of all HVAC, plumbing, and electrical equipment. - Coordinate preventive maintenance and emergency repairs for the building. - Oversee service contractors while ensuring compliance with building standards. - Supervise and mentor junior Engineers and Technicians; assist in setting staff performance goals and evaluating progress. - Collaborate with tenants, contractors, and property managers to ensure reliable building operations and resolve tenant issues. - As assigned, work with vendors to identify scopes of work and oversee compliance with contract terms and quality control. - Conduct regular building inspections and proactively address deficiencies - Manage preventive maintenance schedules and ensure they are executed effectively. - Record equipment readings and ensure assigned building systems are operating according to standards. - Follow company safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE; ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, NFPA regulations; report safety hazards; participate in safety inspections; ensure all staff follow safety protocols and comply with building codes and regulations; oversee safety training and maintain compliance logs. - Communicate verbally and in writing with teammates, leadership team, vendors, tenants, and client employees in a professional manner, keeping the appropriate customer(s) informed/updated as needed. - Perform other duties as assigned.
