About this role
Data Center Mechanical Engineer New York, New York, United States About the Position We are looking for an experienced Data Center Mechanical Engineer who can help Jane Street shape how we approach cooling our data centers. It's no small task-this critical role will directly support our data centers which powers our trading operations. We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of the full data center infrastructure stack. We need someone who understands how a data center is designed, built, and used for the most demanding AI workloads. While we won't ask you to be racking and stacking, we need you to have a deep familiarity of the work within the facility; a “jack of all trades” understanding up and down the technology and infrastructure stack from the power and cooling distribution to the chip level. You'll help us shape and support everything; the operation, management, and monitoring of the thermal environment. You are going to bridge the gap between theory and practice - between our high-level thinking around strategic design and the practical conversations around compute and associated constraints with the physical infrastructure. Responsibilities of the role will include: - Working closely with internal engineers as well as external vendors and consultants to design, implement, and monitor the operation of our data center power and cooling systems - Consulting internally with technology stakeholders to understand our compute needs and how they translate to our infrastructure needs - Develop and review design documentation, including cooling and power calculations, CFD
