About this role

Power Electronics Engineer Los Angeles, CA At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 400 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade. Your mission We are seeking a highly motivated Power Electronics Engineer to join our Propulsion team. You will lead the design and integration of the hybrid propulsion, including but not limited to the inverters, motors, HV cables, with batteries, and in parallel with Turbomachinery. You will interface across mechanical, thermal, electrical, and flight control systems to deliver a fully integrated and certifiable hybrid Electric Propulsion Unit (EPU). Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: - This role is a Responsible Engineer (RE) who focuses on the integration of power electronics and high voltage electrical systems into our hybrid aircraft. - Full ownership over design, fabrication, commissioning, and certification of the hybrid propulsion system. - Lead and execute system-level tests, such as motor and propeller test stands. - Collaborate with suppliers to ensure delivery of integrated, certifiable subsystems. - Model the electrical and power electronics systems in to our high fidelity Digital Twin for optimization of our hybrid mission profile. - Perform topology selection trade studies. You'll Bring These Qualifications: - 2+ years of professional experience working with power electronics components. - Strong experience in high voltage power electronics design (+800V) including AC/DC inverters, and DC/DC converters. -
